Yak and/or Cow's Milk

High in the Indian Himalayas, where the air is thin and the pastures are untouched by pesticides, yaks and cows roam freely at altitude. Their milk is naturally rich in protein and calcium — a result of the extreme environment and centuries of natural selection. DashBoo is made from yak and/or cow's milk, which accounts for 99.9% of every bar.
We source from artisan communities who have been working with this milk for generations. No factory farming. No intensive practices. Just traditional husbandry in one of the world's most pristine environments — and a recipe that has remained unchanged for centuries.

Lime Juice
Nature's own coagulant.
A trace of fresh lime juice is used in the traditional recipe. It acts as a natural acidulant during the cheesemaking process, helping to coagulate the milk proteins and form the dense, hard texture that makes DashBoo so long-lasting.
Its natural acidity also acts as a mild preservative — meaning we don't need to add anything artificial to keep DashBoo fresh. No sodium benzoate, no sorbates, no synthetic antioxidants. Just lime juice, in a trace amount.

Nothing more than a trace.
A trace of mineral salt is used in the traditional recipe — both as part of the curing process and to achieve the characteristic hardness and long shelf life that defines DashBoo. Salt has been used in this way for centuries across Himalayan cheesemaking traditions.
The salt content in DashBoo is carefully controlled to be safe for dogs. At the recommended serving sizes, the sodium intake is well within safe limits for healthy adult dogs. As with all treats, fresh water should always be available.
